M aha Sarakham province has given importance to the development of the province's

sustainable as well as economic growth by incorporating local wisdom to be its strength in
creating added value and income for people in the area. Maha Sarakham province has set
provincial development goals for 2023 - 2027 as “sustainable agriculture that brings
wisdom in creating value and developing trade and investment for a happy society under
a pleasant environment.” Maha Sarakham province has set the 2nd development goal which
is, “to promote the adoption of wisdom knowledge to add value to products, services,
historical tourism, arts and culture and creative tourism.”
Maha Sarakham province has put forward the plan to upgrade the unique woven
culture which is regarded as the outstanding wisdom of Maha Sarakham province. Therefore,
it is considered a great opportunity for the province to utilize the cultural heritage to raise
awareness and recognize the value and importance of ancestral wisdom which will eventually
lead to the promotion of the grassroots economy of Maha Sarakham province
Maha Sarakham province has a strong network of cooperation among the government,
private sector, civil society, public and academic sector in upgrading weaving culture to
promote the grassroots economy under the name “Maha Mai Muang Kham Network.”
The network has an aim to drive economic value creation based on the BCG Economy Model
that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the upstream, midstream and
downstream levels. Maha Sarakham province has established strategies for operations which
consist of
(1) joining forces to set goals for the development of the textile business.
(2) improving the potential of being a textile business entrepreneur.
(3) creating an environment and mechanism that promotes grassroots.
