Message from of the Governor of Maha Sarakham Province
Maha Sarakham Province has implemented important policies of the Ministry of Interior by
responding to the royal aspiration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother who has been devoting
herself to conserving, continuing, preserving and further continuing the wisdom heritage of Thai textile
for several decades. In addition, her aspiration includes continuing the wisdom heritage to ensure that
it will remain permanently in the land of Thailand, and it will move forward to the international level.
This involves responding to the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya
who has a strong determination to continue the royal aspiration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen
Mother. The royal project titled “Have Fun with Wearing Thai Traditional Fabric” aims at promoting the
use and wearing Thai traditional fabric in various sectors in order to create jobs, careers, and income for
Thai people and various professional groups.
Maha Sarakham Province has written a book called “Maha Sarakham Precious Silk” based on
the project aimed at disseminating wisdom heritage as a means to join in celebrating and being grateful for
Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the auspicious occasion of the 91st Birthday Anniversary
on 12 August 2023. In addition, this project has disseminated the heritage of weaving wisdom that the
Mahasarakham people have inherited from their ancestors as shown in the provincial motto “Isan Buddhist
Diocese, a Place of Civilization, Precious Silk, and a City of Learning.” It will also be a piece of
evidence showing the collective memories of the people of Maha Sarakham Province which will eventually
lead to raising awareness of value, importance and cooperation in inheriting, promoting and creating the
heritage of weaving wisdom for the benefits of Maha Sarakham people with regard to creating cultural
values, promoting economic values, and inspiring the descendants of Maha Sarakham people in furthering
the creative economy in the future.
Mr. Kiattisak Trongsiri
Governor of Maha Sarakham Province
