Message from the President

Mahasarakham University has always considered moral and cultural
preservation as part of our community that we - our executives, lecturers, students,
and staff - must be able to learn, place, and inherit. As one of our prior missions is to
possess, continue, and develop the knowledge and pedagogy of the land, the
university has continued to support various art and cultural projects in every of our
faculties and institutes. This year, the Ancient Manuscripts Division as part of the
Research Institute of Northeast Arts and Culture has published an academic
document entitled Palm Leaf Manuscript Wrap in Northeast Thailand : Identity
and Diffusion. This book is a result of our dedicated field workers who had travelled
throughout Isan provinces and found the manuscript wraps which reflect creative skills
and spiritual values of the locality. Our editorial team genuinely aims at expanding the
knowledge to the wider reader and suggests the book be translated into English. This
is to serve the scholarly, growing interests of handicraft and textile around the world.
I am very much obliged to Associate Professor Weenah Weesapen, the ancient
documents fellows, and all the related personnel. Your dedications in moral and
cultural preservation are very much appreciated.
